Sheffield Love Architecture 2014
Love Sheffield Love Architecture 2014
RIBA Yorkshire is delighted to bring Love Architecture to Sheffield in 2014. As one of Britain’s most creative cities we hope you’ll join us to celebrate this fascinating city from 20 June to 29 June.
The RIBA champions better buildings, communities and the environment through architecture and our members and the Love Architecture Programme aims to inspire, inform and excite our public audiences about architecture. We’re particularly excited that this year we are working in partnership with Made North for the inaugural Sheffield Design Week. Love Architecture will run in conjunction with and in collaboration with this programme to deliver an inspiring, thought provoking and diverse programme to the city that will celebrate the whole spectrum of design and creativity in the North.
Architecture is the back drop to all our lives. It shapes the way we live, work and move around. Well designed places like good hospitals, schools or houses can transforms people’s lives but architecture is often over looked or not used to its full effect. In an effort to try and change this in some small way, the RIBA is encouraging the people of Sheffield to stop, look up, think about and get closer to your city.
There’s a huge variety of events for all ages, from film screenings, exhibition launches, city tours and children design workshops. So if you’ve ever wondered what an architect does or why buildings look the way they do, come along to one of the events to see the challenges of the design process but also engage in the thrill of creating great architecture.
Thanks to the fantastic group at Sheffield Society of Architects who never fail to deliver, Patrick at Made North, Claire, Denise and Jo, the team at RIBA Yorkshire and especially our partner firms BDP Sheffield, Bond Bryan Architects, HLM, Hadfield Cawkwell Davison and Norton Mayfield Architects who have supported the festival.
So why not come along and join us, to have some fun, think about your city in a new way and love architecture in Sheffield.
